NEWS 10/02/05 - THE END Considering the current state of the AvP-related websites & the fact than I haven't received any email frmo the last time (not to say since alot of time), I decided to stop spending my time on this site. Thanks all the guys that contributed & exchanged ideas with me the last 2 years. You can currently find me on the Requiem: Avenging Angel for Doom3 mod & Doom 3[CC] mod. 08/14/05 - NEWS It's been a while since last time I posted news here... Anyway, due to the lack of interrest towards both the whole AvP universe and this site (too bad the last film was such a crap !), I decided to put it on a complete statis state for an unknown period: all will depend on possible feedbacks I get & general modders / players will... On the other side, I would like to say that I stay true to my first AvP contact & if something must be done towards it, I'll be ready to work for it: you think the site was cool ? Maybe some things should be changed ? Added ? Wanna see & participate to a possible AvP GE Wiki Web site ? Please express yourself - if you AvP dudes are still alive - and don't hesitate to send me some emails here: if you guys want me to continue the stuff, I'll be pleased to post here your questions / remarks & my answers. The ball is now on your side, so let's rock and see what you think ! 02/13/05 - NEWS Back on the road from this damn hard end & begin of year, I currently experience some problems in making my "Adding mouse support in menus" not-published-yet tutorial: the point comes from the "Profile" menu which is quite different from others (and strange at first to manipulate !). The fact is that I need to find a way to make the menu slide with the mouse, because we're dealing here with a scrolling menu... More on this once I'll get new ideas & results (anyway, if you dudes have ideas and /or suggestions, don't hesitate to e-mail me!). Now, a bit of words from my other projects... Let's get it clear now that I'm ok to bring you the word: I'm working on my own game architecture (i.e. personal 3D engine, script system, etc...) since a bit of time now. As you may have understood, once I'll get a complete system to work with, I'll try to create a remake for AvP Gold, but this is too early to assure you that this'll be done: once again, this is a big project (in fact the biggest one since I'm in computer stuff), but I can't promise anything at this point. I know this is a bit off-topic, anyway I find it really important to be mentioned: I'm currently working on a mod for Doom 3 called Doom3[CC] (i.e. "Doom 3 Closed-Captions"): this one's goal is to bring the hearing impaired friends all over the world a chance to play & understand the game. My current role here's to produce french translations of each character talks, traductions whose purpose's to be directly displayed on-screen for players. I let you put an eye here to get a more precise idea for this project that I 100% support... So what all this means ? Well, that if you put all this together, plus my current job in programming industry, then you should understand that I'll get less time to put in this site for year(s) to come. But this doesn't mean that I'll stop making stuff here: sure, the site'll evolve, but for better purposes ! So please, be patient: better things must come ;) 12/25/04 - NEWS Some little news to let you know that I'm working hard on different projects at the present time (most related to AvP). Concerning AvP Arcanum, I'm on a big tutorial that'll deal with mouse pointer integration in the game menus: for now, I've succeeded in handling common text-based menus, wheareas other ones are still under study. This forced me to fully study the source code for menu rendering system, so hopefully, I'll begin my new "Concepts studies" section. So what ? Well, I'm happy to say that you'll be able to use your mouse in the common AvP menus, in the same way Quake 3 used to be ! I can't tell yet when the tutorial will be published, because a lot of things haven't been solved (menus images handling, increment bars manipulation, etc...), anyway, I'll try to post feedbacks as soon as I can... And to finish these news, I wish you a merry Christmas & happy new year !!! 10/03/04 - NEW TUTORIAL This time, I updated the tutorials section in adding a new tutorial called Adding a Predator movement to cycle vision back, after a request on GameGossip's AvP forum by a newcomer called Titan. This was the occasion for me to correct minor errors in the last tutorial & make me back in that site with new content... anyway, I know that I've got some "Bugs" sections to finish, plus some "Concept" sections to put here (in fact, I've began to port my notes on the Daemon stuff on this site, but the port isn't finished, then not published yet...), all will be here with no doubt, it's just a matter of time... 09/18/04 - NEWS 4 months ! 4 months that I haven't put those little news on this site for all you guys out there ! It's terrific to see how fast the time's passing.... Anyway, here's the situation: I'm working on a project that'll use for AvP. I can't say much that what follows, because if I don't succeed in my tasks, I wouldn't like to let you with a bad impress, considering that major AvP games mods is extremely hard to find & dead projects always happen... So, here's the stuff: I'll try to re-make the game's architecture so as to let modders put their hands on it without full game's knowledge ! I know that it may seems crap or impossible to do, anyway, just keep it in mind: I don't promise anything & I won't proclaim "Here's a new mod" until I've got nice working materials. It's really a personal stuff, but what I want to let you understand's that if it's functional, you'll be able to use it. More on this when I'll have more news... 05/24/04 - NEW TUTORIAL This time, I've put another tutorial in the "The Bugs" section that I've called Weird screenshots. The source code comes from ...pyth (thanks again dude!) and it's purpose's to correct 32 bits screenshots... Thanks to Rudi, I've founded that my 2 Bitmap files on the "Using Fastfile Explorer" tutorial were no longer displayed. As I've seen, the shit comes from the host (which at present time is Prohosting ==> shame on you dudes !) and despite the fact that I e-mailed those guys to get a fix for 4 times, I've still haven't got any answer. So here's the point: the images are now in JPEG format AND YOU FROM PROHOSTING SHOULD KNOW THAT IT SUCKS REAL BAD ==> THINK ABOUT NEWBIES !!! Huh sorry ;) At the present time, I'm working on a new version of the site (new interface), but I don't know when it'll be finished then published. Anyway, maybe new material will be put if I've got enough time... Note: you may have noticed 2 changes in the windows... The first one is the in-page advertising that appeared before and not anymore and the second is the "Xiti" image. For those of you that wonder, it'll let me know how many AVP coders comes here... And I can't resist to mention (it should be called AvPArcanum news - eheh - !!!) that Rudi's successfully changed the game to work with DirectX 9 library, which means that we'll probably see good things in the future: AVP IS FAR FROM BEEING DEAD ;) 03/15/04 - NEW TUTORIAL & NEW SECTION Back on this site, I've corrected a little bug on the "KICK" command: you could previously just type "KICK 0" in the console (i.e. "KICK the server" !), which isn't allowed now. The "avp_gold_source_116_1.zip" archive was deleted from this site, because I learned that it's content is illegal: if you've got it, DON'T USE IT if you don't want to be blamed by Fox, Rebellion & Bink / Smack, because of it's BINK / SMACK codecs. You've been warned, so I'm not responsible for your use of the code ! I've finally added a new tutorial for your skin sessions: "Using Fastfile Explorer". This one will bring you the keys to use the software to make skins for your AvP mod. If you're an artist, this should be a "must read" ! (Plus it contains my new skin for the Predator...) And because it's been done in my source code since a little time but not here, I've added the The Bugs section to bring you the solutions to correct known AvP source code bugs. At the moment, only the "Release For Fox" compilation patch is on the site, but the others should be here soon... Have a nice read ! 01/18/04 - NEW SECTION Happy new year dudes ! I'm back to give you one new section: The Source Code in which you'll find classifications, explanations, concepts, topics and other stuff on the AvP source code ! Another good new: I've founded how to solve the .exe crash of the game in the "Release For Fox" mode !!! This has already been integrated to the second release of Cancer Black, the cool mod of Eldritch & his team (see the avp gamegossip forums here), plus, the code patch I provided solved a bug in the water rendering !!! I'll put the patch here soon... 11/09/03 - DOWNLOADS PAGE UPDATE I've updated the Downloads page to bring you all that you need to make mods. Damn, I've uploaded the tools for a while (no DSL connection !!!), so feel free to take a look ;) 11/08/03 - TUTORIAL UPDATE There was a bug in my last tutorial that made the Predator and the Alien configurations go crazy (the keys were changed), so I've corrected it by making an update to the tutorial, and explained a little more things in it. 10/05/03 - NEW TUTORIAL Today, I've made a new tutorial for this game: "Adding a Marine movement to reload weapons". This one's more evolved than previous and can be useful to create new movements in that game. And as I say: "The Predy boy's got new movement, then Marine guy's got one too !". Have an idea for the Alien dude ?!!! 09/12/03 - NEW SECTION Due to an unemployment problem, this site will slow down (have a job for me ? check the section "The Author", please !). Anyway, I've added the "Terminology" section because of specific terms employed in this site. There may be errors in some parts, so if something is wrong, let me know it (I've update my e-mails section). 08/26/03 - HOSTING CHANGE This site moved to a new location: the first hosting site was too bad for all this. First, they added advertising without choice. Second, some guys suffered downloads problems. So as an angry Predator, I blasted if off and changed the site for the new hosting: now, you've got pop ups instead of shit on the page, plus downloads & page display should be better ! /_\ * BLAM * nice shot !!! 08/18/03 - BACK & NOT BLACK ;) I'm finally back from my 3 holiday weeks: I'm sorry not for having notified it. Anyway, now I can continue this site and my work in AvP: I've added a new tutorial in the "Beginning with the sources" section, that is "Using Visual Studio to make mods". This is just a simple view on this software for the ones that never seen it and want to learn it's interface rapidly... Oh and I've put a link for those of you that want my comics software (Comics Manager v.1.3, see "The Author" section in the end). 07/20/03 - PAGES TRANSLATIONS I've finally built the translation system on this site: now you've got an english & french version on the same site ! For that, I checked all my pages to traduct each one. Therefore, the switch is located in the menu at any time... 07/16/03 - NEW TUTORIALS Damn ! I though that I would burn at home, hell on earth, 'cause of temperatures ! The problem is that it makes my cpu rising at 60 °C !!! That's why the 2 new tutorials are now published: "Adding a console command" and thanks to Eldritch, "Adding a command to spawn Sentry Guns" (written by himself). I began the "Gadget" concepts (the "Daemons" one will be available once I finish gadgets & all console stuff...) That is for the good news. Now for the bad ones, you just need to look at this big shit here =========> (if you only see the border of the screen, forget that !), I mean this advertising they put on my site WITHOUT notifying me !!! Damn ! I'll take my wristblades and make trophies of their poor human heads ;) /_\ * BLAM * another one !!! 06/25/03 - NEW TUTORIAL I published a very short tutorial for those of you who wonder if AvP really uses each file of the released archive... 06/23/03 - NEW TUTORIAL Today, I've added a coolest tutorial than yesterday: wanna get a high-jumping Predator ? Then just take a look and enjoy my little true story... 06/22/03 - NEW PAGES After some trouble in hosting this site, I've finally corrected it. I've added a new section for the tutorials: at this time, you can access only to the first one and you can see the future ones. The site is growing slowly, and I hope that it'll be interresting. A section dedicated to downloads can be accessed to get AvP GE source code, but the page is still under construction. I predict a "Concepts" section, or something like that, to let you see the concepts of AvP. At this time, I'm finishing the "Daemon" concept. This is just the beginning, dude ;) 06/15/03 - WEB SITE PUBLISHED That's it ! I've finally published this site, after 2 years of work on AvP GE Source Code ! Most of the pages are still in construction, so you'll find new stuff in the future. I personnaly thank Eldritch from AvPNews, with his support on GameGossip AvP-related forum, and guys like Rudi, for their help in testing my progs for my debugging stuff... (for those who care, there's a bug when executing the AvP GE compiled application in Release For Fox mode and using Windows 98 OS). Wondering what's all about ?
